Checking for Keyword Density

Here are easy steps to check for keyword density:

  • Copy and paste the contents of a Web page into a word processing program like Word or Word Perfect.
  • Go to “Edit” and click on “Select All”. Then go to the Tools menu and select “Word Count”. Note the total number of words on the page.
  • Now select the “Search” on the “Edit” menu. Go to the “Replace” tab.Type the keyword that you want. “Replace” this word with the same word.
  • When you have finished replacing the function, the system will provide an account of the words you replaced. This gives the number of times you use the keyword in this page.
  • Use the total words of the page and the total number of keywords to calculate the density of keywords.

Knowing your keyword density will help you to eliminate some keywords that are overused. Remember that you don’t want Google or any other search engines to ban your sites, right?
